  • Taiwan part 3

Mostly food pr0nz with some other ones thrown in there. Only 8,000 more photos to weed through. <,<

There were actually some pretty cool pieces around. But they were hard to find, because none of the people I was with were really into graffiti. Such a shame. =(

Pretty Painting with Lights - taken whilst driving through Ba De City

Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie thingy from the restaurant below. The owners are related to the family I stayed w/ in Tao Yuan.

AWESOME fries. No clue what they're called. But it's sweet potato fries, with hot, sticky, melty, sugary goodness on the outside. You pick up one w/ your chopsticks, then dunk it in the ice-cold water to harden the sugary stuff, then eat it. YUM.

My beloved Tofu. Super firm tofu, deep fried w/ some bomb sauce for dipping. This was a few days before I left so I said screw it to my thyroid, and had a few of these. <3

Unbelievably tasty. I think it was either crab or shrimp, fried, with that awesome special mayonnaise type sauce. Heaven.

Some of the biggest oysters I saw whilst in TW. And that's including the ones we got in the TaiNan area (oyster fishing is HUGE along the coast there.) I haaaaaaate oysters that I've had in the USA that are huge, and grainy inside. This style is delicious. I wish I knew what the official name of it was so I could see about getting it here in the States.

The logo for the leprous city that is being torn down. Sad story. This exhibit was at the Fine Arts Museum in TaiPei.

Fun, hidden little temple out in-front of the entrance to the Grand Hotel grounds, pictured below. It's completely surrounded by a huge multi-highway interchange, and yet, with all the trees blocking the sound and the light to some degree... it's actually really peaceful and quite. ^o^

The Grand Hotel, TaiPei. One of the best and most expensive hotels in Taiwan. Pretty impressive from the outside.

Blood Rice cakes. Not my favourite. Not bad, mostly just tasted like rice. /shrug

Yay!! Tofu!!! I hate not being able to eat it freely. Effin' Thyroid. =\

Pork w/ interesting sauce. It's famous or something. I HATE that phrase. "Eat this, it's famous." <,<

    Yummy noodle soup. =)

And Shark. I think this was the first time I tasted shark. I got another chance again a few weeks later. It wasn't bad. Not fantastic tho. It had a bit of an odd texture. Like... mealy... it was meh for me.

I luv traveling, and food is definitely a HUGE part of it. ^o^

  • 동생 ~ 弟弟

(Going crazy, can't sleep, decided to upload this.)

From a shoot I did on Thursday, March 10. My bro's b-day gift to me, cuz I said I wanted to do a photo-shoot for my b-day. He agreed to let me paint his face (NOT w/ acrylics this time), and let me put tons of goop in his hair to make it look like that.

The camera was a bit of a rig... Usually I use a Nikon D80... but with these photos we used an interesting mix of old and new styles. The body is an old Horseman 4x5 with bellows, the lens is from an old Army Air Forces reconnaissance camera, and the back is my D80 acting as a digital back... the photos are incredibly clear because of the lens. ^o^ The lens is huge, probably four inches in diameter. The whole shebang was placed between 20 and 30 feet away from the subject. For almost all of these photos, there was only one light, shining from above and in front of his head. The lack of flare and the sharpness of the photos is awesome. I'm so in luv with this.. "Franken-camera". Lol.

I did the make-up, styling and face painting myself... I wish I had more talent/knowledge about those aspects of a shoot. Poor Dezzy... <,<

I can't decide which one(s) I like best... they're all similar but still a little different... thoughts??

  • What are 5 life experiences you hope to have before your life is over?

I don't usually do these Featured Question thingys... But this one is kinda cool.

    1. Finish my bucket list of visiting all 7 continents. I have 5 "down"... but I want to experience more of each continent, not just one city, or one country. I have seen all 4 oceans, but I want to swim in, boat on, and take pictures of all 4 oceans, and then I want to hit the major seas as well. Dittos on the sub-regions of the world, Central America, the Middle East, etc.

    2. I want to live up to my dream of becoming a pro photographer who travels the world.

    3. I want to find the perfect place on earth that's not too hot or too cold, and I want to buy/build a house there.

    4. I want to be fluent in Mandarin, Korean, Castellano, and perhaps Greek and French. I would like to have a passable knowledge of Italian, Japanese, German, and perhaps Russian.

    5. I don't want to be sick anymore. Effin' tired of being sick and having it screw up my life.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

About Me

  • I am a 20-something who passionately loves photography and more recently food/cooking/baking. I like trying new recipes and learning as much as possible about how to achieve the best results. Photography is and always will be my first passion, but I'm making more room in my heart for the wonders of creating delicious food. =)

Remember when you were driving alone down a busy street and you were singing a Mandarin song at the top of your lungs with the windows down? HAHA The crowded street of Asians all looked at you as if suggesting that you're mocking them lmao! :D

Remember that time I put that personal ad in the paper? The one that read, "I like midnight strolls in the falling snow down softly lit city streets wearing matching mittens, scarf and hat whilst discussing '1984' and the evils of icy sidewalks." ROFL ^_-
